The School Day
Start of the School Day
From September 2020 we have modified our school day and staggered the start and finish times. This is to enable us to keep children in their class 'bubbles', allow them move around the school building safely and to help parents and carers to socially distance at the beginning and start of the school day. All children from the same family have the same start and finish times. We hope this will help to keep everyone in our school community safe and our school open.
We ask that when bringing your children to school that you help to develop their independence and avoid coming onto the school site by saying "goodbye" to them at the school gate. There will be members of staff on duty at the beginning of the school day to meet and welcome children when they arrive and to direct them to their classrooms.
Entering and Leaving the School Premises at the Beginning and End of the School Day
Children in Chaffinch, Kestrel, Moorhen and Quail Classes will use their external classroom doors. Skylark Class will go around the new track to the hall and enter and leave through the hall. Heron Class will use the corridor from the playground nearest their classroom and Osprey Class will go through the door from the playground by the allotment.
The best time for parents/carers to speak to the class teacher is at the end of the school day, unless it is urgent. Please contact the school office by phone or email and they will get a message to your child's class teacher.
Break Times and Lunch Times
During the school day, break times and lunchtimes will also be staggered so that two or three classes are outside whilst other classes are eating their lunch, this is to enable us to keep children in their class bubbles. At lunchtime hot lunches and packed lunches will be eaten the classroom, with the exception of Chaffinch Class, who will eat in the hall.
Whole School Activities
Whole school activities will not be possible for the time being, but we will be exploring and experimenting ways to keep the whole school community feeling going, by doing things between classes virtually or finding a 'new' way to approach things. For the time being collective worship will be class bubbles unless we are able to gather outside.
End of the School Day
Children are discouraged from leaving the premises without a responsible adult unless parents or guardians have informed us that their children is allowed to walk home on their own. Parents will be asked to wait on the playground for their children at the end of the school day. Please follow the signs.
In the event of school closure due to bad weather it will be publicised on this web site or you can sign up for alerts by going to the WSCC site and enrolling. Closures are also announced on local radio.
