PE

INTENT

We aim for children to develop knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. Children are encouraged to become focused, connected and creative through activities such as dance, games and gymnastics. A number of after school clubs are also provided termly to encourage children to be active beyond the end of the school day and to develop their skills and interests further. We encourage children and staff to have active and healthy lifestyles through inspiring discussions, exploring sporting values and using real life examples. We intend for the children to continue this positive relationship with sport, diet and exercise into their adult life.

IMPLEMENTATION

This will be achieved through one hour of outdoor PE and one hour of indoor PE every week. Children are taught a varied curriculum with activities including: gymnastics, dance, football, rounders dodgeball, golf and cricket.

Everyone at Eastergate CE Primary School participates in the Daily Mile at some point during the school day, making the most of the great outdoors and our school grounds.

Children have the opportunity to join a range of sports activities before or after school, such as dodgeball, running club, karate and football training.

IMPACT

Through Physical Education, the children will learn to think, select and apply skills and promote positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. They will have an awareness of their own strengths and performance.
